During 2010, Streetly Methodist Church, located at the junction of Thornhill and Hardwick Roads, is celebrating its' centenary. The stone laying ceremony for a new Church took place near the end of Thornhill Road on Saturday, 18th September, 1909. Four months later, the building was completed and the opening of a new Wesleyan Church in Streetly took place on the 20th January, 1910. The accounts, published in 1910, show that the cost, including land, building fees, furniture, fencing, and the organ was £ 2079.12s.2d The original intention was that the building opened in 1910 should eventually become the school hall and that a larger hall be built on the remainder of the site. That plan was modified over the years but, just after the First World War, it became apparent that extensions were needed so the Guild Hall was added in 1923 and the Chancel in 1931. Other major addition were the Church Parlour and the Caretaker's House in December, 1936. As part of the Centenary Celebrations, there were will be numerous activities throughout the year. Everyone is welcome.
